After playing it, I did not find that review as "conservative" as she made it sound. It adds an interesting bit of lore to the overlord over all story and is a prequel but the down side is it is short and doesnt make connections it could have like mentioning future characters or villains. The dialogue is funny, with snarky comments and statements you wouldn't expect to hear from the "hero" in a game. Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2012. The central premise might suggest it’s a game for megalomaniacs in waiting but the contrived plot actually has you thwarting baddies rather than stealing children’s lollipops. The minions are cute and really amusing. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. You begin with Browns, the most basic minion type that's only really good for brute force labour and good old-fashioned scrapping.
But as a colorful, undemanding and fun action game it’s still worth practicing your evil laugh for.
While four minion types might not seem like much, when you've got access to them all and are changing between them on the fly with the Wii Remote's d-pad, there's quite a lot to get your head around. You, the Overlord, have a group of goblin-like Minions following you around that will obey your every command--from fighting enemies and moving objects to sacrificing themselves for you. This means the story is brand new, the controls are built for the Wii Remote and Nunchuck, and the presentation doesn't suffer from the normal multiplatform issues Wii owners have had to put up with since the console launched. The different skills of each minion type for instance are under-explored, the puzzles simplistic and the main story can be polished off in around five hours. If you are interested in this game, please take note of those two items. Where there should be blood, chaos and screams, there are regional accents, cuddly looking baddies and simplistic strategy. As such you’ll travel across the kingdom freeing multiple minions, smashing more crates than Crash Bandicoot and doing the odd yokel a favor.

NY 10036. However, it's a lot of fun and hard to put down. My kids don't watch stuff above PG and they don't hear us cursing. The graphics did not age very well but at the time of release in 2006 these graphics were pretty standard.
The minion choke, a move talked about quite a lot during the preview stages, is little more than an infrequently used comedy move that makes the released minion explode, taking out any barrier that stands in your way. But then I saw AND heard the cursing (the written lines are said outloud). As a game designed to exploit your moral compass, Overlord’s ambitions are foiled by a lack of reach.
So, that kind of thing makes a difference to us.

Overlord: Dark Legend is essentially what you would get if you crossed Pikmin with Goblin Commander.

Not worth the money spent. Soon enough, though, you'll gain access to Reds, a breed that can throw fire and act as firemen of sorts if flames block your path. Minion Master and possible Dark Crystal star Gnarl is always on hand to offer some advice, and the opening hour or so sees you getting to grips with basic minion control.

In the imposing iron boots of an underage overlord you are charged with the task of building an evil empire by thwarting the even more evil plans of your moronic siblings. Or picking something up, putting it on their head, dancing and saying, "For Me" or "That's Mine". This game really is a lot of fun if you have a good sense of humor. Despite a few control quirks and a difficulty level that would only challenge a complete novice, the end result is a game that all serious Wii owners should take a look at.
Just when you think the Wii has nothing to offer for the core gamer, along comes Overlord- Dark Legend, and I must say that it's a better experience than it's Xbox360 counterparts; at least in my opinion.

It’s a fairly generic adventure whose core mechanics of exploration and puzzling have both been done better elsewhere. I'm picking up another copy for myself.
I also have to mention though if you liked the other 2 that were on xbox the control scheme is completely thrown out the window but that's less the developers fault and more so the wii's fault for forcing motion controls into every game in its catalogue.like I said though other then the clunky motion controls you can expect from most wii games and graphics that make sense for 14 years ago its amusing and still an overlord game.
It's cheap though so being about the length of a dlc you can beat in a day it's worth the price.

Overlord Dark Legend ultimately falls short of feeling as evil as it intended, but there's some fun to be had in the Fable/Pikmin mesh of a game. As in the original game you can command a small army of imp-like underlings who will do your bidding, no matter how evil. As entertaining as the game's missions are, it's the humour that will win over many gamers. There's a problem loading this menu right now.

The distinctive stages are well structured and the combat and puzzles easily handled by your minions using the new pointer-based commands.

Add in command point placement, sacrificing minions for Overlord health and general resource gathering, and you've got a pretty competent RTS on a console. But ‘nice’ isn’t quite the word that Overlord is reaching for.
While Codemasters' Overlord II will be the evil doing choice for many, Dark Legend on Wii manages to be an extremely competent third-party offering. But still enjoyed it all the same. Please refresh the page and try again.

The game has none of the usual features casual gamers would expect, but then it's so easy that anyone with any real gaming experience will barely raise a sweat. The game is easy to play, and I got so wrapped up in it I didn't want to give it to my son. We had never heard of the Overlord series and I bought this purely based on kpurple2's opinion (So, I didn't know about it's theme and most reviews just said that it was just like the other games without defining what the other games were like). As well as the general ease at which you'll stroll through the campaign, Dark Legend fails to capitalise on a few of its other unique features. GamesRadar+ is supported by its audience. Now that really is evil. The Overlord's magic is also largely pointless, and the armour upgrading feels pretty tacked on given that it's so easy to buy it all with your bountiful cash supply.
It's too easy and suffers from a few technical shortcomings, but the campaign is always fun and entertaining.
